HOW’D I GET HERE, YOU ASK?
Let’s start at the very beginning
In 12th grade (2015), I was clueless about my future career. I was a runway model and that consumed a lot of my study time. My parents, the first in their families to earn university degrees, always inspired me so at the right moment, I quit modeling and committed to higher education. One day, while walking with my dad, he pointed to "The Design University,". It was as if the gates of heaven had opened for me.
Many tried to dissuade me (my parents believed in me). Their doubts only fueled my determination to prove them wrong. And guess what? I got in. I was over the moon.
I loved the program, but on my graduation year, COVID-19 hit, confining us all to our homes. One day, while wasting time on YouTube, I found a branding channel and remembered why I love design. I revived an old Instagram and committed to it.
After 2020, everyone I knew in Cuba emigrated, some suggested that with my looks, I should find a wealthy foreigner to whisk me away. Once again, I proved them wrong.
It’s been a journey of bold moves, late nights, and clients who inspire me every day. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
As a woman, I've experienced being underestimated and objectified. But here I stand, ready to show everyone they're mistaken. We can excel in our industries, choose our partners out of desire rather than necessity, and prove that there's no one stronger than us—despite what some may claim. The future is female, and I'm here to prove it.
